Custom handpainted tiles by Rachael
Hirt are entirely custom designed for a kitchen backsplash murals,
decorative handpainted tiles for bathroom backsplash and or shower/tub
area and handpainted custom tiles for a fireplace surround/hearth.
Rachael also handpaints sinks and above counter vessels for the
bath or powder room. Handpainted tile murals and decorative backsplashes
are used when building a new home or remodeling a kitchen and
bathroom area but the decorative handpainted tiles can also be
used to spruce up a wetbar, butlers pantry or outside terrace/poolside
area.
All of Rachael's ceramic kitchen and bath tiles are handpainted
in the centuries old traditional italian technique called majolica.
Rachael studied the traditional techniques of italian handpainted
pottery and tiles while living in Florence. Italy. It was in
Florence that Rachael studied at Sbigoli Terrecotte's Laboratorio
and learned this renaissance technique of handpainiting pottery
and tilework. Many of the designs that you see on this site are
either replica's of renaissance Italian art or Rachael's interpretation
of the old designs and patterns as well as entirely original
designs. Many of the color combinations and patterns that Rachael
incorporates into each handpainted tile/mural or piece of pottery
are inspired from the time Rachael spent while living in Tuscany.
All of Rachael's handpainted tiles and tuscan/mediterranean style
murals were custom designed with budget and space requirements
in mind, then the tiles were hand molded specifially to size
specification and handpainted for the homeowner. Each 'sample'
that is seen on this site was coordinated and developed with
input and suggestions from the client to create a beautiful and
lasting kitchen ceramic tile mural and or decortive backspash
that have been custom designed and handpainted just for them
and their personal home decor asthetic. All of the comissioned
works you see on the site are custom tailored to be matched to
any dimension, pre-existing space, color, fabric wallpaper, paint
that will enhance the overall effect of the tile installation
in your kitchen, bath etc.
